Default How would you rule it?

Did anyone catch the latest WPT (Gold Strike World Poker Open).....??? There was a hand in which the Grinder had made a mistake and I wondered if you guys agreed with the ruling that was made.

Scotty Nguyen and the Grinder were in the small blind and big blind. Scotty with 44 and the Grinder with 67os. Check, bet, raise, call, whatever.....Scotty winds up turning trips and the Grinder rivering a straight. Now heres where it gets interesting.

-Nguyen checks.
-Grinder bets about 3/4 of a huge pot
-Scotty then says "I can't believe I just call you this hand ......I should have ra-raised you.................................I raise" [sic]
-Nguyen makes a BIG check raise.
-The "woman of poker" or whatever, the girl who announces the actions to the crowd, says "Scotty makes the call."
-THE GRINDER TURNS UP HIS CARDS.

The tournament director comes in and gets everyone's story and then says that because of the comment made by Scotty about calling "we're going to go with the lesser action and just make it a call by Scotty." Mike Sexton says that he disagrees with the ruling and thinks that because Scotty said raise, he should have to put in the minimum re-raise at that point.

What do you think?

Didnt see it, how did he make a "BIG check raise" without putting money in pot?

He should def have to make minimum raise if he said raise.
What a poor mistake by Mizrchi though.

He was stacking chips in the middle when he said it.
