SS NL Experiment
I started playing SS NL last month on Party because the O8b games have gotten so weak tight.
I am now playing with it on Party, UB and Pacific.
After playing with it a bit, I have have decided on buying in for 24bbs and topping of when I hit 16bbs, leaving after I hit 40bbs when the blinds come back to me.
I play TT+ and AK for a raise from any position, raising from 4-8bbs or all in depending on the acton in front of me, and my opponents. I will limp or raise with other pairs positionally, and add in AQ and AQs.
AQ is my most troublesome hand.
results with about 1800 hands.
mostly at 25NL ( I have played some 50NL but didnt include them in the results)
Post flop play varies by opponents and table conditions.
1770 hands played
+$80.26 WR is 9.07PTBB/100 - this equalls 18.14 big blinds/100
VPIP is about 12% and PFR is about 4%.
I started off playing pretty weak-loose, and lost my whole stack in a blinds battle with A8s. I also busted after doubling up on one table with AQs on a flop of 225 with two of my suits vs an opponents with 99. It was a moral victory because I would have only made that play with AK or AQ suited to the board or an over pair to his 99.
I am enjoying playing this way like I have not enjoyed in a while, especially on party where it is so easy to four table.

yep... SS is the way to go.. it works for a number of reasons.. you get callers. Reduce implied odds. AA,KK,QQ,JJ get loads more value.. Blind attacks are more effective on tight players (4bb in late with a 18bb stack = all-in in most pples minds so they back off)... PPL get pot committed with you ( I may as well call the last 4bb.. etc etc).
It also takes the strain out of playing - Losing 5 buy ins is only one buy in..
Once you know a table then it can be worth deepening (loads of maniacs) - but certainly for the first 20-30- hands you should always be SS as you get info..

playing 3-4 tables is quite exciting for me. it is a big change of pace from S8b or O8b.

How are mere mortals like us supposed to compete with you past the flop Bboy? Better for us to have it all in or not before turn card comes!

all in baby.
I do enough playing past the flop in limit.
I would like to try PL again, that is the real mans game.
BTW, it is just an expiriment. I am loosely following Ed Miller's guidelines and adding in some of my own tweaks. Should probably just stick to Ed's guidelines.
I like to sit down and bang out 100 hands in 40min or so. I have no idea how long I will stick with it, it is definitely not a long term thing.

If you don't know the players its hard to play post flop. SS gives you time to assess....
If you look at cash flows most money is won preflop in NL. -Only AA,KK are worth more than the blinds.
At low limit games the rake is a major issue - for complicated reasons SS defrays the rake effect..
