Default Startup costs for an online poker site...

This might be a silly question, considering how much the industry is worth, and of course all the competition. But I was wondering if anybody ever looked into this, as far startup costs, administration and security costs, taxes and/or licenses? Tens of thousands, hundreds, or in the millions?

Me and a couple buddies looked into starting one, we got as far as having a working server running (hella Buggy), but when we looked at the market, it just wasn't pheasible to make a profit. But, we did a little math and figured averaging 10 tables total running 24 hours a day, with limits from L.01/.02 to L5/10, you'd make around $10 million a year in rake.

what if, you made a site that incouraged collusion and bots. It would be called anarchy poker. your encouraged to cheat. obviously there would be a dissclaimer so that real players wouldn't play there.

I don't believe it is saturated. With a good marketing strategy and good knowledge of the needs of poker players you can compete wih the biggies, if you have good financial backup. With less financial backup you must realy have a lot of trust in your product. I personally really like the 3d rooms popping up. But lets see if they can brake thru like pokerstars without all too fancy free money offers.
