Default Turbo vs Regular SnGs?

I was under the impression that turbos, I am talking about playing on Stars but I am sure that the same holds true for other sites aswell, would be full of the weaker players compared to the more disciplined grinders at the regulars.

I have found the case to be completely the opposite, clearing my last PS bonus through SnGs. I was mainly playing the Turbo 16s and 27s, while doing decently but I noticed that almost no-one ever gets eliminated until the 4th-5th level usually the 50-100 blinds, when almost everyone is getting short-stacked, I figured that was just par for the course and continued to win a bit.

Since I had some more time last night I decided to boot up some regulars, some 22s and 33s, it took me a while to realize I could afford to wait alot longer and lo and behold the donkeys just started killing themselves off. I was really shocked at the bad play. It was pretty standard to be 6 handed 1/2 way through the 2nd level. To be honest it was weird for me to have to play some post-flop .

I know my sample size for the regulars is low, I only played 8 last night, but I was wondering if this is the norm? Also why is this, why would the better players be doing the turbos?

i think turbo's are better. they are a lot easier and faster to make cash from.

i've heard and seen some great advice for turbo play. The whole all in or fold idea is great and the ocasional small raise etc.

they're a lot quicker but you really have to change strategy hugely. You can't play a turbo like a regular in anyway whatsoever. You should limp only if on BB and if the cards don't fall your way then you're out really fast.

In 3 minutes you can play around 5 hands but not much more than that. If the cards don't fall your way you'll just get eaten by the blinds which really isnt much fun.

Tight is a great strategy for turbos, but when you get the hands you're after; aggressive is even better. This also will build up table respect which will allow you to bluff later on in the game when it is down to 3 or 4 people and the blinds are worth stealing

Turbo's seem similar to regulars for me, i'm a pretty tight player and I never had trouble getting killed by blinds. I prefer them greatly mainly because they take a lot less time to finish.

I'm surprised most people so far have said they prefer turbos. Maybe its just because I cant win these consistently but I find theres an icredible amount of luck that goes into these. After the first 20 minutes everyone is basically playing push fold poker pre-flop. It's also not too odd to find yourself chip leader with less then 10 big blinds in your stack. I understand there is skill in knowing when to push or fold but when the blinds are 400 and the average chip stack is 2400 theres not too much room to play with.
