Find something else to keep busy. Another hobby. I enjoy poker and at times will be playing when I realize I need to be doing something else. But recently I've been busy with a new business venture, busy reading up on some news in the tech world, I broke out my Canon Rebel and went outside and took some pics this weekend, I've been busy re-building my website from the ground up...basically I've kept myself occupied with other things and I've played very little poker in the last few days and didn't even really realize it and I wasn't even trying to not play.
My point is, find things to do. When you are sitting around with nothing to do or keep your mind focused on you will definatly be tempted to go play again. Don't do it. There are many other things to do that you enjoy (other than gambling). Find out what those things are and keep your mind on them for awhile.
Good luck.

Posting on a poker message board probably isn't going to help....not at first anyways. I understand you might have some friends on here and want to stay in touch with them but it might be best to wait until you've gotten control of this thing.

I don't think posting here that he wants to play is bad - he's announced that he wants (needs) to quit and we can help hold him accountable.
I agree with what the others have said - find a hobby and dive into it. And make sure you cash out all your poker accounts and remove the software from your computer.

It has nothing to do with what he's posting, it's just the fact that he's visiting a poker site while trying to overcome a gambling addiction. It's like a heroin addict watching a movie about heroin, it's going to make him want to indulge in the very thing he's trying to quit.
