Skillbet takes US players (www.skillbet.com) but its not regular holdem. Carbon is just like FTP, UB etc and takes US players.

Whatchagundo - which of the ones you recommended is best? I am wanting to start playing poker online but wasn't sure if it was legal and which sites are good.

Revolution Gaming is good for US players (Lock Poker just relaunched it and is running a ton of promotions +36% rakeback)
Merge Gaming has several good rooms (Carbon, Black Chip Poker)
Then there is always Bovada and Americas Cardroom, but I would consider these tier-2Read my musings on poker and life at PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

I just don't get why some sites allow US players to play and others don't. Surely for big providers like Stars etc they should have the attitude of if Lock poker can provide for US then so can we, I mean you guys must make up a very large section of the market. I mean I know about Black Friday etc but maybe don't understand it fully as I thought it was a blanket ban against all sites question is how do some allow it and others dont.
Although it would be bad for us euro fish if you did come back to Stars lol I hear that US players tend to be pretty good at poker.

On Black Friday the US Department of Justice indicted PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and UB/AP Poker. As part of their deal with the DOJ they have pulled out of the US market.
Operating in the US is a decision made by each site independently based on the potential risk of being shutdown/indicted, as well as the cost factor since deposits and withdrawals generally have to go through middlemen which raises the fees/cost to the sites themselves.Read my musings on poker and life at PokerNewsBoy.com, and My Poker Blog

Thanks for response I understand it a bit more fully now. Hopefully Lock etc are ahead of the game and the decisions get revoked or amended. Is the Merge network pretty busy now as a result of influx of US players?

Merge and Revolution are about equal in players, both have a solid player base and are about #10 in the world in terms of overall traffic
