An online poker study is being conducted by Jennifer Wagner, a Psychology Honours student at the University of New Brunswick, supervised by Ph.D student Anthony Hopley and Dr. Richard Nicki. This study is being done online and investigates the relationship between measures of gambling behavior, work behavior, and personality variables in high-earning online Texas Hold’em Poker players. All participants will fill out several questionnaires, which should take no more than 45 minutes. Each participant will be entered into a draw for four prizes of $50 (expected odds of winning are 1:25). If you’re at least 19 years old, or 21 outside of Canada, and your average annual online poker earnings are at least $10,000, please visit the website below if you would like to participate in this study.

So let me see if I have this straight: You want High-Earning poker players to waste an hour of their time for a 1 in 25 chance at $50 --or basically a $2 return. $2 to fill out an hour long survey or play poker and make $100+ an hour, hmmmmmmmmm

If you qualified for this study narg, $50 wouldn't mean much to you. AS Steve said, ti would be -EV to stop to take this survey, as you would lose time to play or study.

My point is, this is why these studies are so useless. No serious poker player is going to fill out the survey --maybe a few in the interest of science-- so for the most part you get a bunch of degen's looking for $50 to play 5 $10 S&G's or something. And then we are surprised that these studies show "professional" poker players have addiction and life issues and such.

I looked them up, they seem like a legit department in a psychology department at UNB that focuses on internet gaming, gambling and otherwise. But while steve's points are valid, I would hop they would account for these issues. maybe the OP can come back and actually describe what's going on here, past results, etc, and not the spammy advertisement they originally posted.
