Wow, thanks for the responses. I talked to someone just before reading this, and yeah, Marm, you are so right on the "always call the SB" being wrong.
Could you explain the 2 + 2 a little bit?
And after really thinking about it, I am going to stick to limit cash games. It allows me to play the math more consistently, and with my fiance' always demanding attentin, (LOL), I can drop out of a game faster. Going to hit 2-3 freerolls a week in Tunica to get some real table experience.
Really curious about the 2 + 2 method though...

OK, I'll post it up in another thread.... it's the basis of all calls on the last two streets.
Marm is back, maybe. Been off for 3 years. Rusty as Hell.

As far as the original post goes, I tried #2 when I first started playing. Even if you hit something on the flop though, it's a good way to get trapped by an opponent because it's always tempting to play a flopped top pair or two-pair - especially when you had rags to begin with.

Jeff...playing any hand out of the small blind except for very strong holdings is not just a leak but a black hole. If the BB is very weak and nitty than you feel you can push him around than do so but only if the hand is folded to you, no limpers or raises. Keep in mind that the SB acts out of position for the whole hand..not a ideal situation unless you have a monster.
