    Default A bit frustrated

Hello all. First off, I'd like to say that I'm not a person who thinks online poker is rigged and I'm not gonna be in here flipping out. With that being said, I would like to ask others (preferably good players) about their experiences.

I play micro stakes, .01/.02 and .02/.05. Recently dropped back down to .01/.02 after recent events. I played kinda serious but not really for a couple months about 2 years ago. Stopped playing for a while, and then about 8 months ago, started playing serious. Learning more about the game, game theory, position, implied odds, pot odds, fold equity, etc. etc. I won 6 bucks in a freeroll and worked it up to 123 bucks playing micros. Anyways, I recently hid one hell of a downswing and am now at 81 dollars in about 4 to 5 days. I flop a set of Kings, he's got a set of Aces. Set over set, pots that should be chopped, they runner runner flushes. I mean, you name it, it's pretty muched happened in the past 4 or 5 days, and multiple times at that. 2 outers and whatnot.

I guess my main question to the good players on the site is what kind of downswings have you been through on lower stakes. I'm a TAG player and I'm usually around 22% hands played if that helps. I know about opening up my range in middle/late position with raises. I've been going over everything in my head, and it's like I really don't know what to do. I'm just losing money all of a sudden and I can't do anything about it. I know about variance as well, and this is like variance on steroids. almost 40 dollars in a few days is a lot in micros. I've never lost that much.

Your story is about 90% the same as my story, bad beats and dropping down to 2nl, and all that jazz. Swings (Down OR UP) are pretty common, normally maxing out about +/- 10buy-ins. Poker's a pretty cruel game sometimes, but you gotta focus on the longterm and have the bankroll managment to support it.

22% seems a bit too wide, you might want to look for some marginal spots to fold.

Well, my bankroll management has always been good. I actually play in between 5-10% of my roll on the table at one time, and no more. I don't even like being at 10% to be honest. 22% seems wide????? How low should it be? And what about the marginal spots in which I'm priced in? I'm just tryin to learn man. Information is priceless in this game I think. Any kind of info you can get at that. I can't wait to gain more knowledge from this site. Hopefully this is just a swing and it'll turn around soon. Like I said, I've gone through swings before, but this is like ridiculous. Just ride it out basically? And maybe play a little less hands you're saying?

    Yeah, pretty low traffic site.

You should have 20-25+bi for your stake (more as you get higher). That works out to ~5%, so you got good instincts then.

Wait. Do you play Fullring or 6max? Fullring it's a bit wide (though 6max it's fine), and you may be playing hands that are good but don't work so well out of position. Maybe post some handhistories on hands that give you trouble?

I've been playing full ring for a while now. Couple tables at the time. To me, it kinda works well with the TAG strategy more than on a 6max. Just my opinion I guess. It's not really any particular hand that's giving me trouble right now, it's more or less all of them lol. I understand the power of position and all, it's just brutal right now. Look me up on Pokertracker. I was using it recently, but then it lagged so much on my computer, I had to stop. Took like an hour for my HUDs to come up. How exactly do I post hands up here? Get the site to send them to my email and find the particular one I'm looking for or what? I've never posted hands before

I put in 28K hands in the micros this last month. I can tell you that my losses got worse as I swung lower. I started at NL10. When I had a couple of losses I went to NL 5 and then to NL 2. At NL2 most players are all-in preflop or on the flop. This takes away much trapping ability as well as increases the amount of suck-outs that you see.

As far as your range, I would tighten it up to about 18% if you are playing NL2 or NL5. Few people will ever fold a pair esp TP to you. This means you have to be really picky on spots to bluff, and also means you will get paid off almost everytime you hit a monster. Just my2c, there are many better players than me on here...

Yeah, the .01/.02 are crazy. I just came back down to them from .02/.05. The only time I'm all in before the flop is with AA or KK. Maybe QQ-1010 if they've got a SMALL stack. Not really sure which hands to cut out. I hardly play anything out of position. Maybe I shouldn't call the 1 cent to see the pot when a lot of other people limped. Sometimes I'll call just trying to flop a monster against a lot of people. Maybe somebody could help me out??

A working HUD is very nice, at the very least it will allow you to identify the nit-regs at the micros and allow you to avoid paying off their QQ+ and sets. This will also give you a far better idea of what players can have if you learn to use it correctly.

Glad you were able to figure out your HH's.
    Postflop hand looks standard.
But, I'm not a huge fan of coldcalling UTG raises when you're likely to be OOP. AJs is an allright hand, but UTG is 1/2 stacked and that really reduces your ability to profit when you hit bigger than him.
