Are the numbers one the chips? Doesn’t matter I guess, but for SnG’s I’ve always preferred to deal with higher denominations, perhaps because it sounds better and is similar to the online tournies.

Your next decision is if you will allow rebuys. We always start by saying no, and personally I prefer no rebuy, but when someone goes out in ½ hour with a lower full house people always feel bad.

A few options

1) No rebuy. Period.
2) First person out can rebuy within the first hour
3) Each person is entitled to 1 rebuy in the first 3 levels (1.5 hours) if/when they go out
4) Same as # 3, except at the end of the third level, anyone that has not yet rebought, can add on

(Rebuys and add ons would be another $5 for 4000 chips)

Next, first for an 8 man tourney, I’ve found 3 or 4 colors of chips should be enough. To make 8 people last 3 hour, I suggest 4000 in chips (There will be a total of 32000 chips in play before any buy ins) , blinds start at 50/100 and go up every ½ hour as follows:

Start 50/100
½ Hour 100/200
1 hour 200/400
1.5 Hour 300/600
2 Hours 500/1000
2.5 750/1500 (if things re going slow, change this to 1000/2000)
3 Hours 1000/2000 (if this was set at previous, change this to 1500/3000)

Make the Black worth 1000
Make the Green worth 500
Make the White worth 100
Make the Red worth 50

5 x 500 (green) = 2500 (x8 people = 40 chips)
10 x 100 (white) = 1000 (x8 people = 80 chips)
10 x 50 = 500 (red) (x8 people = 80 chips)

When people rebuy (if allowed) give them 3 black, 1 Green, 4 White and 2 Red which adds up to 4000.

If you just want to use the values you stated for the chips, it shouldn’t be too difficult to modify the starting total & blinds given the above.

Now you have to decide payout structure. For 8 people, I suggest only top 2 at roughly 70%/30%.

We usually do 20 dollar rebuy.

Starting chips 3000
starting with
12 $25
12 $50
11 $100
2 $500

Blinds start at 25/50 and increase every 20 minutes usually.
