Default New to the Forums (Question about chips)

Hello there

I saw that there is a tourny every couple of weeks on PS so I thought that I would join this Fourm. I play for fun. Mostly in the Saturday and Sunday morning $1.00 Limit tourny and the Monday or Tuesday $3.00 NL.

When I can get enough guys together we play a home game. I have an old set of plastic chips and for Christmas my wife wanted to get me a nicer clay set. Has anyone had any experience with the "All-In" chips at all-inchips.com.
or any other chips that are nice.

Thanks for any help and hope to see you all on Sunday

Ed

Wow.. nice wife!

I don't know a lot about chips, but somebody here will probably help you out. But upgrading to clay chips from plastic chips is definitely a HUGE thing. Plastic chips are just horrible.. 11.5 gram clay chips are nice, but can be expensive (Just so your wife knows).

epokerchips.com The guy is really nice, and you get 500 chips for only $60.

Exactly what do you need/would like? If you can post that I can narrow it down for you :P

EDIT: I'm sorry I missed a key-point of your post.
(By the way the correct address it http://www.allinchips.net/ but its no biggie ^^)
The all-in chips are very slightly better than the normal 11.5gram suited/dice chip, while they would be an improvement to what you use, they are not worth the price.

The 11.5 gram "clay" chips are not the real clay chips. They are made with a metal insert. You can get a set of 1000 for around $140 with no shipping or $104+ shipping (whichever is cheapest)

The next step up would be these http://pokerchips.com/chips/chips_styles.html

I would recomend the clay chips with edge spot as they will be unique to your game( well basically)

The next step up would be Chipcos I guess. I really don't like these chips though. For the price you could get a colored printed center at pokerchips.com

The final step would be a set of paulsons. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

They dont make paulsons anymore so they are hard to find.

Another choice may be something like this: http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Exp...Code=10-NJACKS
made by bluechip im pretty sure. Good chips but maybe to pricey. For this much I would much rather get a clay chip w/ edge spot from pc.com but whatever

I really think you're best choice is
1.)to spend a little bit more and get the "clay chips with edge spot" from pokerchips.com They really are nice chips, you'll be pleased plently.
2.)Take advantage of the 25% off deal from 5stardeal.com Anything you want can be found there
3.) A lucky good deal on ebay

Thanks for all the info bonchkid.

I know someone who has the chips from Pokerchips.com. They are very nice but a little expensive. That is why I was looking into the All-in chips. It seemed like a good price. I will look into all of the sites you have suggested and get back to you all.

Thanks again.

Im just curious why chips matter so much, they are just things you use to make betting easier in poker. Is it chip tricks?

It feels a lot more professional playing with my clay chips than those crappy plasctic Bicycle ones. Adds some realism to the game. Plus you can stack them and store them easier. Also when new people come over to play they are impressed and respect your game. And yes, it allows you to do tricks that you can't do with some other. I personally can't do tricks for shit! whenever I try to even shuffle them my hand hurst like hell. I guess being a drummer for 15 years has ruined the dexterity of my fingers.

Mostly just because it does feel better. When you play multiple times a week its not a bad thing to have them.

Not in a degrading way at all zoom, but do you play poker in real life? If you have played a LOT im sure you would consider better chips.
