Summer reading - Ideas?
What would be some good books to read this summer. So far I've read The Da Vinci Code, and Angels & Demons by Dan Brown. I've also read a handful of Cussler books. Any good suggestions to read? I'm not talking about poker books!
EDIT: So far thinking about Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich.

the harrington on holdem books
Any Harlan Coben book, but start with his Myron Bolitar novels, available in paper back.
State of Fear was pretty good.
Confessions of a Street Addict by James Cramer
Bleachers or A Painted House by John Grishom are good short stories - especially A Painted House.
Radical Son by David Horowitz or Reagan's Wars are good bits of history.

I'm reading the green river killer right now, pretty good book.
If you have never read it I highly recommend Red Dragon
Pharoahs and Kings a biblical quest is another good one

Check out Ender's Game by Orsen Scot Card. He has a whole series that starts with this book, however if you don't like this book, you won't like the others.
I've also read The D'Vinci Code and Angels and Demons and found both of them lacking as far as good reading is concerned. Alot of that has to do with previous research I've done into both the Catholic religion and into the Knights Templar and associated 'cults'. I found Dan Browns speculations entertaining, but far from the truth. I've read the vast majority of Cusslers books and find them "light" entertainment. Dirk Pitt is somewhat predictable, but the end of the books usually have enough of a surprise to keep me reading.
I also highly recommend all the 'Jack Ryan' Books by Tom Clancy...PM for a complete list. Even though some of these have been made into movies, the books are so much better as to not even concider the movies from the books, but as acts in and of themselves.
If you like Fantasy, try David Eddings...I recommend a 5 book series called "The Belgariad" (iirc) and another 5 book series called "The Mallorean". Read the Belgariad first.
If you like "crime" books, Jeggery Deaver has a few good ones out...and I can't read enough of John Grisham when it comes to "law" books.
If your into "light" reading, Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality" series is geared toward a younger reader, but the implications for religion are staggering if you read between the lines...
Sci-Fi....Arther C Clark has some good ones out and "Tau Zero" by Paul Anderson is one of my favorites.
If you want more specific recommendations on the general areas that I've mentioned, PM me and I'd be happy to provide you a list of books I've read recently that I concidered decent and worthy of a read. My highest Recommendations at the moment go with Orson Scott Card and his Ender's Game. Currently there are 8 books in the "Ender's" Series that are great reading. OSC also has several other books I've read and they've all be decent, jst not on the caliber of Ender's Game, and the books that follow that series.

havent read anything in quite a while - this thread has me looking forward to getting back into it.
2 guys that i like are andy mcnabb and chris ryan.
both of them are former SAS men and were involved in the gulf war.
both have a large number of books - both true stories and fiction relating to SAS operations. both of them use the same character in each book moving from crisis to crisis - sorta like a hard ass lassie or big soft jack bauer!
their true stories bout their time in iraq really are eye openers bout what those guys go through out there.
its my kinda read-dunno what ud think bout it.
google both names and u have complete list of all books by them.
looking forward to seeing other suggestions and expanding my ever decreasing brain power again.

you don't think Red Dragon is a good book????????
As a serious fan of the psychopathic mind this is a great book. A little better than Silence of the Lambs in my opinion which is also a great book.
Patricia Cornwalls Jack the Ripper book is also good
Another great read is the Lord of the Rings books but if you read them do yourself a favor and read the Hobbit first and after Lord of the Rings read The Silmarillion which explains all the stories of old they touch upon in LOTR.
I read all 5 of those books at least once a year.
Some other repeat books I really like are, The Godfather, Anything by Robin Cook, Otto's Boy, The Jurrasic Park books, and the following older novels are among my favorites; The Three Musketeers (great book to read when your sick!), Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn, Frankenstein, Bram Stokers Dracula, Treasure Island, and for some reason I really like the Merchant of Venice.
those are some of my favorite novels but to be truthful I'm more of a history book type of person.

Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich was an AWESOME book, probably the best I've ever read and that's coming from a guy who hates reading.
READ IT, you'll love it.

Please don't take this personally, I know I've been insulted for my taste in books by others. I do not take reading recommendations from 2 types of people. Anybody who suggests the LOTR trilogy (I've tried so many times to read it and have never succeeded), and anybody who suggests a group of books and 90% are movies.
