Anyone else read any of the "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" series by Robert Kiyosaki? I've read two of them (5 total I think) and though them both amazing, espeicially those people interested in financial planning, etc, they are amazingly easy reads/page turners and will really start you thinking about money matters in a whole new light.
Another book on my shelf that I recommend is "What's so great about America" by Dinesh D'Souza good read if you are interested in the current world political climate.
Another perhaps slightly more usefull book to this site is called "Telling Lies" by Paul Ekman.
Thats all I can remember, but then again, my library almost literally half a world away from me at the moment.

I agree Kingjack, I've recently read Hyperion by Dan Simmons and am reading Ilium at the moment, alongside Robin Hobb's latest new one (all her stuff from the Assassin Trilogy to the Liveship Trades, through the Fool Trilogy is first rate character driven fantasy.)
Very good stuff similar to the excellent Iain M. Banks Sci-Fi - "The Player of Games" being my all time favourite read and should appeal to the mindset of posters here, though all his stuff is good.
And Red Dragon is an excellent book, while the Lord of the Rings is a tremendous work of literature. Criticising people who like books that get made into films is crazy.

Just saw an interview with Jack Cashill. He has a new book out called Hoodwinked that sounds interesting.
He dissects some of the popular intellectual fraud that has been prepetrated in the last 50 years or so. Like DDT/ A Silent Spring, Margaret Sanger/Planned Parenthood. Sounds like a good book.

I haven't read anything but the first page, but here's my summer reading list:
Sophie's World: A novel on the history of Philosophy
Candide
Flowers for Algernon
Crime and Punishment
Atlas Shrugged
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
I've been told by many many many people that I should read Fountainhead before Atlas Shrugged, I'm not going to listen but perhaps you might like to try that one.
