They don't turn shit books into movies.

Honestly you have no buisness shooting down someone elses partial reading list, when you haven't read them.
Not to be a dick but I wasn't giving you reading suggestions personally so I don't care if you take them or not.

I also don't like the demeaning way you classify me by my suggestions, I read at least a book a week and as I said do not read many novels I am more into History books so attempting to call my reading list "fluff" in so many words is way out of line.

And you recommend Grisham and Clancy books?!?!?! If you don't like my suggestions just say I read it and I didn't like it don't demean the person giving the suggestions.

How close minded can you be to say I don't take reading selections because you suggest such and such a book.

I'm going to stop the post now because I am getting more and more pissed off as I write it.

I've been wanting to read Freakanomics since it came out. I'm with Steve-O in that I like to read history type stuff or anything dealing with politics. Crime and Punishment is my AP English book for the summer.

Dark Tower Series by Stephen King are pretty good. "The Stand" is also a pretty damn good book. Long, but good.

Most of Dan Simmon's books are also excellent.

Freakonomics is kind of weird in that it starts every chapter with a few pages about how brilliant the author is. The economics parts were pretty interesting, though.

Just read Collapse by Jared Diamond. Very good book, if a bit depressing.

I forgot to mention the Douglas Adams books (anything by the man is great if you enjoy british comedy) and Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson (It's a little heavy, but has some interesting insights to cryptology in WWII.)

I will second that Ender's Game is a GREAT read for Sci-Fi fans. Was forced to read it in HS for a class and ended up reading the first 3 books by the time the class was done with Ender's. Never did go any farther than that, but man was that I book I could just sink into for hours on end.

i'm another vote for ender's game (loved that book)...i read the whole series. ender's game and ender's shadow were the highlights...some of the others drag a little but they were all worth a look.
