CHIBA — A 59-year-old man from Chiba Prefecture recited pi, or the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, to 83,431 digits from Friday to Saturday in a new world record that is almost double the current Guinness Book record.

Akira Haraguchi, a volunteer worker from Mobara who already holds a world record in pi recitation, started the new challenge shortly after noon Friday and stopped at the 83,431st digit early Saturday. (Kyodo News)

I can get it to 3 digits, and that's about all. My personal favorite is Phi, because it's a whole H a lot better then Pi.

ok is there any usefull application of knowing pi beyond 3.14? If you need it for precise calculations, the friggin computer shouldnt have it in memory already to its largest memory size (like a double float or something), but when im doing carpentry (or whatever) 3.1 or 3.14 is best to use.
