Default WSOP rant

Is the WSOP on a downward spiral?????

Sure attendance is up and it's all over the TV but what the fuck are the WSOP people thinking???? Lets get all the money we can while we can before this poker craze burns itself out.

How else can you explain the enormous length of time from event 1 to the main event. You could literally leave vegas for over 6 weeks and it would still be going on when you came back!!!

Each tournament now takes 2-3 days to play so if you wanted to play every tournament you would have to lose on day 1. come on, change the structure or allow days off in between

There are now 2 or more tournaments each day?!?!?! what the fuck, the schedule is so goofy i have trouble reading it, especially the main event "flight days"

Some events are duplicates of previous ones how many $1000 buy in no limit champions can there be? well according to the WSOP....... 4, and also multiple $2000 winners and 2 $5000 champs. hey guys why don't you make each game type have 1 event that is $5000 or $10,000 to enter instead of having 20 NL champs at varying buy ins.

Shouldn't winning a NL championship at the WSOP mean something? doesn't handing out 20 NL bracelets each year basically kill the reason why the WSOP was started.

This is such an overblown attempt to make a quick buck instead of nurturing a very good product that would have lasted a lot longer in the mainstream if it wasn't being handled so poorly. WSOP within 5 years will see declining #s and even more declining prestige. Ask the pro's (besides Hellmuth) and those bracelets are a lot less meaningful.

This would be a good time for a rival casino to start a new more meaningful championship that could superced the WSOP. The WPT is on the right track but I'm talking about a 2-4 week group of big tourneys at 1 casino. Amarillo slim almost pulled this off years ago with his poker tournament which at the time was thouht of in the same breath with the WSOP

Think about this, 1 event per game type played in 2 day with an entry fee of $5000, maybe $10,000 for the more popular events, NL Hold Em, Limit Hold Em, PLO, Stud, and Limit Omaha 8. There would be a tournament every other day and run satellites to the next tournament on the second day.

then have 2 main events a $25000 Horse and a $25000 NL Hold Em.

Trophys to all the 5k and 10k winners and bracelets for the 2 big ones.

my 2 cents

So pretty much it would be Beal vs whoever else decides to play him?

you'd be surprised how many people would still be in the event... especially with online satelites i could still see the number reach about 800-1000 entrants

they would get backers.

The WSOP is changing, that is a fact. All winning an event ever meant was what people believed it meant.

It is sad that they got rid of the horse and hose events. I thought the only $1k events were the staff, celeb, women, and rebuy. There sure are a ton of $1,500s.

Those shouldn't be "championship" events. The only Champ event should be the highest buy-in for that game type.

Binion created the WSOP (or stole it, or bought it or borrowed it or whatever) to create publicity. It is still true to it's intentions.
