Default the truly small world of poker

about 2 years ago during the Foxwoods WPT event I was playing at about 2 AM in a 5/10 with a kill at $100 omaha 8 game.

the player to my right leaves and is replaced by "Oklahoma" Johnny Hale, who is accompanied by a VERY pretty young lady who takes a seat behind him to observe.

To his immediate right is Mike Cappelletti of Cardplayer fame, and Johnny's wife comes over and introduces the girl to Mike saying "this is my daughter" so that cleared up that little mystery.

Fast Forward to today where I'm waiting for some O8 players to show up to an online site.

A player sits down and is getting a little perturbed about the effects of the rake heads up. she says she is going to see if she can do anything about it, because.......... drumroll.................................she is Oklahoma Johnny hale's daughter!

After a brief Q&A It is in fact the same girl from foxwoods, how he has a 24 year old daughter is beyond me, and she is very easy on the eyes too.

The poker community is a very small world indeed.

Just found it kinda interesting that this happened. It kind of scares me that I remember that night 2 years ago so clearly as well.

Certain hands are actually going through my mind right now from that night

my memory is fairly good, I could tell you

3 specific hands from that night,

A funny little anecdote "Johnny Hale said to his daughter,

that Cappelletti bought in for $100 and rebought $50 (3 times) at a time when busted,

he was also practically falling asleep at the table and saying how he needed to go to bed because he was playing in the seniors tournament the next day, He was still there when I left after 5!

He ended up placing in the tourney the next morning too! he couldn't have slept more than 2 hours if at all.

i could tell you most of our conversation about why 9JKK is better than AA7T in O8 as well as some other conversations I had with Capalletti

Later in the night was the first time i met Gus Hansen, he was playing 300/600 with Matasow and John D'Agostino at the second table from the back left at Foxwoods.

The far back table was a 5 handed 600/1200 game with Phil Ivey, 3 foxwoods regulars, and a very rich fish

but she was also fairly smoking as well, I'll give her an 8.5 on a scale of 1-10

He always plays big games, usually bigger than 300/600 too. I've seen him play and I wouldn't want to play with him.

There are only a handful of people I would not want in my game Matasow is one, he can completely dominate a game. he is not a typical pro type player. Gus, Layne Flack, Phil Ivey, being some others that i consider in this category.

they have no fear and can throw you off your game. other big name pro's play a more by the book strategy so you can avoid them when need be, but when someone is reraising 79s or 2344 in PLO they are tough to avoid and with their no fear attitude tough to put on hands and play against post flop unless you are extremely strong.
