I dont agree with any of the choices.

My problem with welfare is that it give people a minimal level of existance that they may be satisfied with, allows for all kinds of anti-social behaviors, and removes hope.

Yes, but it needs to be reformed. More proof of looking for work, and maybe random checks on the slackers and stuff.. I don't like my tax dollars going to pay for people who don't even try to find work..

Problem is, as Soon as they find a minimum wage job, in an effort to rebuild their lives, they yank the welfare from them. You try raising a family of 5 on 5.50 an hour. Even working 80 hour weeks thats not enough. One of the adults needs to stay home with the younger kids, they cant afford day care. Welfare needs to provide support for a limited time or until they can prove that they can survive on their own. School credits would be a good idea for people to get certifications/educations to work skilled higher paying jobs.

I've seen it done Marm. The problem with people is that they are extremely lazy. It's not that I don't feel for the very poor, but I am just one of those guys that feels everyone should work hard. The majority of people on welfare are lazy. When people are provided for, they have no need to get out and find a decent job. I voted no, but I was just letting you guys know that I am not that harsh. It is the only choice the really fits my opinion though.

we need to stop helping people suffering in other countries and start helping our own people.... screw the africans... there's 3 times as many needy people sitting on NY street corners.... the government needs to do more to help our needy US citizens. also, welfare only needs to be a dollar a day per person... look how far it goes for those 3rd world countries... they get education and food and shit

There are three tiems as many poor people living in NYC than in Africa. Go look at your map, that's completley illogical.
