Default Bout time...

Its about time they started working on repealling this damn thing, part of it was already ruled unconstitutional by the court a year or so ago

I disagree with this, there is no way you can expect privacy in a PUBLIC LIBRARY.

Peope are all around you, and a librarian or assistant checks you out. They aren't supposed to see what you are checking out? Total BS.

yeah, but it's against federal law, until the patriot act, for law enforcement agencies to use this type of info (sales slips, library card info) against you. Now if they find those books in your home during a vlalid search, its a different story.

Patriot act is the worst piece of legislature since prohibition..... It takes away the rights of ANYBODY (including citiczens) suspected of terrorist activities. It's even superceding the geneva convevtion....

you have any better examples than getting data from a public venue?

I would say that campaign finance reform was worse that the what I have heard of the patroit act.

not to say I want to give the government too much power, Janet Reno may be AG again someday.

credit card purchases and all of that stuff you can't expect too much privacy on since it takes other people to make the transaction and there is a record of it.

Sometimes you have to give up a little privacy for safety. I have nothing to hide from the federal government, as long as im following the law, what do I care if they know what library books i purchase?

Of course as long as it does not go to far, we don't want the "party" and big brother watching us and controling our lives.
