Default Deep Throat (not the movie)

Nothing insightful to say here, just thought that the resolution of perhaps the greatest unsolved mystery of the modern era deserved a thread all its own.

The number two man at the FBI...yeah, that's a pretty credible source. I'm kind of surprised though -- I'd always assumed the reason for the anonymity was because "Deep Throat" was still active in poltical circles and couldn't risk the fallout. Felt's been retired since the early 90s or so...guess he just didn't want the publicity or the attention from his actions.

Pretty amazing in this day and age that his identity was pretty well an unknown to all for 30+ years...even his family didn't know 'til 2002.

1. I dont think this is any was anywhere near the greatest mystery on modern man.

2. The number 2 man at the FBI is in politcal circles.

This guy is a coward, he is right not to be proud of what he did. If he was brave he would have fought for prosecution, then shown that the FBI was politically corrupt if it didn't follow-through.

He was just a cheap political hack.

Okay, I'll admit some personal bias since I devoted close to two years of my life as an undergrad researching Watergate and everything Nixon ever said/wrote about it for my senior thesis.

But out of sheer nosy curiosity, I've gotta ask what your top two or three in this category are then Beav.

That chick pilot that disaparead. Can't even imagine how to spell her name.

The Easter Island statues.

DB Cooper.

Roanoke.

How exactly the pyramids were actually built (a lot of conjecture and ways it could be done)

Stonehendge.

Who killed Chandra Levy.

Who killed Jean Bonnette Ramsey.

How the fuck did OJ get off?

It may not have been the greatest mystery of man, but it was a pretty big deal in American history. I mean, this guy stayed in the dark for 30+ yrs. That's impressive. Also, there has been a lot of 'interest' in trying to find out who the guy was.

I dunno. . I think it's a bigger story than the attention it's getting. This guy nearly singlehandedly brought down a president of the US.

I'll give my point of view on some of these, just shedding some light don't bash or hate me

amelia earhart. It is a mystery but i think very few people give a rats ass about this one. I put this way below deepthroat

Quote:
The Easter Island statues.
"a drawing by a crew member aboard a 1728 Dutch voyage to Easter Island clearly depicts a standing moai being moved by people using ropes and perhaps even logs"

Ritual use, most polynesian cultures make Moai statues of some sort, Easter Island was isolated and their cult would have developed on its own without influence. Therefor you get the difference in size and such

to ancient to be ahead of deepthroat

Quote:
DB Cooper.
they caught a guy pulling the same stunt a few years later, can't remember his name. it was so similar to the DB cooper thing that the lead FBI guy thinks it him.

I put this right in the same breath with deepthroat

Quote:
Roanoke.
Again this would be way below deepthroat inpeoples mystery list.

Quote:

ok this is pet peeve of mine. there were no martians or space age tools.

point 1 - the inner surface of the blocks is rough, lasers and such would leave a polished edge like is found on the outside surface.

point 2 - quarrymen gands left their mark on many of the blocks

as for how it was built, the same as any other ancient megalithic structure ropes, logs, and ramps

OK this one is probably #1 on most peoples lists

Quote:
Stonehendge.
This is a good one and right up there with the pyramids

I can't even comment on these ones

how about

Roswell and Area 51. I would say this is the greatest mystery of our time. I don't believe in UFO's but what exactly went down at Roswell?

Atlantis

as far as greatest mysteries go popularity wise I would say

Roswell
Atlantis
The Pyramids
Stonehenge

there are some other great little known ones as well

Machu Pichu
the Khmer Ruge in cambodia
the burial complex of Xiang Dai in China

And the religious ones

Ark of the Covenant
Shroud of Turin
and so on

And I think the greatest mystery to be

"How the fuck could you call me with five-ten offsuit!"

9/11's a pretty big mystery and Beavis, you totally showed that you're an Arizonian there with the motives.
