I've been playing poker now for 5 years, just turned 25 this year.
I've been playing online poker off and on for about two years, not a huge profit in either area -- but the wins are consistent. Consistent to the point where I feel like I'd be successful in a live poker arena. Recently a situation has come up where I have to leave the place I'm staying and find a new home within the next two months. For these next two months I don't have to pay rent, and combined with the money I already have it gives me a pretty nice bankroll. My brother has had success in Biloxi. My question to you, the reader is: What city should I start my live poker gaming in? I need a place where I can find lodgings quickly, a little job to hold me over in tough times, and I need it to be a somewhat exciting area (Not a casino surrounded by subdivisions made up of elderly).
Any comments would be appreciated,
thanks in advance

I'm one of those. I definitely think I have the skill and potential, but I'm in a life rut, and I tend to just waste time when I'm alone (which is most of the time) so instead of grinding online I just end up watching tv or playing pointless games. I have an urge to just pack up and move to Vancouver to try my hand at the live cash (they made every 1-2 into 1-2-5 now - a forced straddle). But I only have $800 on FTP/Stars, and around $2-3k life moneys if I were to sell some stuff I don't use anymore. That and I'm a totally sheltered life-noob. It's like.. I know I want to go and do something like that, but I just waste my days away and never do anything about it.

You'll find that having played almost exclusively online and then trying to play live will be a big change. The game is MUCH slower. It's not as easy to do this live that you would online. You will actually have to look your opponents in the eye when you try to get cute etc. It's not so easy to risk your whole stack when you know you'll have to physically get out of your chair and leave the table and walk out to your car. It makes one play a little differently. When you're sitting in your underwear at home there is no "shame" involved. It makes a difference.
Stop calling in the bets and keep them yourself.
