I really think you need to think about this selection in comparison to the rest of your events.
It was an event that, like quite a few very similar events before it, were a huge tragedy, but really only affected a small handful of people (tens of thousands possibly had a connection to it, and maybe 2-3 thousand were directly affected by it.) It was an event, jsut by the ferocity and surprise of it, that a ratings starved media jumped on and made a national crisis. It wasn't. It was a local event. I even helped review some of the Policy and Procedures for Tactical EMS in the wake of this event, and we realized how "minor" this event was in comparison to other major crisis, like Oklahoma City (both the Bombing and the tornado), 9/11, and other such events.
Yes It was a horrible thing, and yes people died, but, looking at other things on that list, I would hardly consider it a "historical Event".
