Bad lay down
Hello everyone,
I'm new here so cut me some slack.
I've been playing poker for over 3 years and i'd like to think i'm a pretty solid player, but tonight i made a horrible lay down that is driving me nuts. Here's the situation: i have KsJs preflop and i smooth call, everyone else limps in..the flopcomes Jd 7d Jc, i'm first to act so i bet $15 the next guy goes all in(i had been playing with this guy for about an hour and he seemed to be a pretty decent player)..everyone folds around to me and i'm just dumbfounded. Why would this guy come over the top of me like that? Did he limp in with 77 and catch a boat on the flop? Did he limp in with AJ and catch trips with a better kicker, or maybe he has a J with a worse kicker? While all this is running through my mind i put him on 77. I ask him if he'd show if i laid it down, he said yes. So i painfully lay it down, but i show my buddy my cards before and he flips out saying "why didn't you call?" what were you thinking? The guy flips over 57 off suit. I am totally disgusted because i could have just doubled my money(i had about $130 at the time) My buddy then proceeded to tell me that the guy wouldn't raise all in if he had flopped a boat with 77, he would milk me for all i'm worth. I wish i had thought about it more because i would have thought the same thing. I felt like the biggest idiot and i still do. That was a beginner move on my part. Oh well, i just gave the guy too much credit. You learn something new every day. Sorry this is so long...
