Anyone know anything about TV's?
Amazon.co.uk: Samsung LE19R86 - 19'' Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview - Black: Electronics & Photo
This one seem good? I'm pretty reluctant to go for one by a random company I've never heard of as I've seen a fair few tv's out there that get kinda blurry at times, especially when watching sports.
I'm looking to spend £200-300 ($400-600 for that way inclined ) and around 20" is good cos I don't need any bigger, any other bargains out there I should look at?

...You've never heard of Samsung?
Being an american, I can't comment much on the price or recommend some good sites as I'm not sure if they ship to your location, but I will say I have a 40" Samsung LCD and I've been satisfied with it. The specs on this one look ok (brightness/res/contrast ratio are the most important ones), although the speaker power looks kind of weak but if it's for a small bedroom or something you'd probably be ok. Only other thing I'd comment on is give some thought to what peripherals you might connect this to as it has one HDMI and one component hookup.

actually, I don't see another important spec listed, which is the refresh rate. Check that out before you buy as well, you'll want something <=8ms.

Yeah I have, that's why I was looking at that one. You can get some alot cheaper, just from weird companies I haven't heard of.

I'll need a scart connection for my cable tv, and eventually want to connect an xbox for hd.

the only thing i understood from this paragraph was that ur american
i know nothing bout tv's but id be thinking that £200-£300(€350-€500) should get u a bigger and better tv than a 19" one.

my brother bought a new one recently(ive no idea where, what make or how much but good story )
a guy he works with told him that if the make of tv appears on the SKY menu for programming the SKY remote control, it should be a good reliable tv even if it was a make that he never heard of before.....take that fwiw.

I should mention I want Widescreen LCD HD ready. Hence the bigger price.

So I assume you'll get an hd signal from your cable supplier? Keep that in mind, some tvs come with an HD Tuner for those buyers who don't have an HD cable service, which is an extra cost you can avoid.

"Bigger price" than what? Most LCDs are widescreen and are HD ready. You'd pay a bigger price for a plasma, and I'd definitely recommend LCD over plasma.

Not a bad thing to look into. Tons of LCD TV manufacturers are popping up, and most use the same components as the known companies do. Just read customer reviews if you don't know the company - some do have reputably shitty customer service, for example. But like, a lot of people haven't heard of Vizio or Olevia, and they make solid products from what I've heard.

Than a non-flatscreen "normal" tv.
