Rugby players = considerably tougher than American "football" players

Wota, I thought that as finals go, it wasn't too bad. The 1st half was considerably better than the 2nd I thought. AC Milan certainly didn't deserve to win imho.

Ok first this is the Champions League thread. Lets not get into that boring ass debate about what sport is toughest and how footballers act too much.

To be honest this game was always going to be a bit of an anti-climax after what happened 2 years ago. Both teams were going to play super tight early on especially Milan playing Milan football.

Liverpool without question had the best chances of the first half, 3 really clear cut ones that if you want to win have to be put away.

Then a sloppy piece of defending by Carragher, a clumsy challenge by Alonso and a flukey free kick and Milan are 1-0 up at half time.

From there Milan are going to do one thing they do best: Play out the rest of the game as is the Italian style.

I was a bit dissappointed with Liverpool in the 2nd half as they never produced anything of merit like the first half and never looked like scoring.

Then Milan shut the door with a lovely through ball to Inzaghi who did what Liverpool didnt in the first half. Took his chance well and put in a cool finish.

The game did get some excitement towards the end but the goal coming from a set piece was really just false hope, and after Istanbul Milan were not about to let another European Cup slip away again.

To be honest I thought Liverpool just slightly deserved to win after creating more chances and playing the more attacking football.

However 2 years ago although absolutely ecstatic and half drunk I thouhgt Milan should have won in Istanbul

Cliche: Its a game of 2 halfs

Liverpool donked it 2 years ago and tbh, with players like Pennant, Zenden and Kuyt meant to be their "flair" guys, they dont deserve to win anything. ever.

scum.

Zennden is a damn good player. Kuyt hasnt lived up to the promise he showed at PSV and TBH Pennant should be behind bars.

I wouldnt say they donked it 3 years ago, more like pushing all in for 15 mins and milan having no response.

Whatever you want to say Liverpool are a damn good team and are awesome in Europe.

Riise has one of the most powerful shots in Football, Gerrard maybe the best attacking midfielder in the world, Crouch event though is a lanky fool is a great striker. That team has class alround. Much more so than 2 years ago.

And cmon would you rather see them or Chelsea/Manure winning it?

Zenden is a decent player but well past his best imo. He doesn't have that yard of pace anymore, I think Liverpool are in dire need of a world class winger.

As much as I think Crouch is one of the most over-rated players around, he probably should've been brought on sooner to rough up Milan, Kuyt wasn't causing many problems at all.

I agree, Liverpool are a damn good European team to watch. They played well first half but once Milan scored it was game over in my eyes, no way were they giving it away again.

If you lot get someone like Robben or Tevez etc. over the summer you can definitely challenge for the title. I just don't think Kewell/Zenden/Pennant and co. are good enough.

So true.
I looked at Liverpool's team today and just thought they had a host of very average players. It would be a travesty to European football for people like Pennant to get a European Cup medal.

Dee, why such hatred of Liverpool? Seems a bit strong. I can only guess it is something to do with Heysel?
