Default do you get what you want?

My girlfriend doesn't like me gambling. She says that it is something only disillusioned people do, and the whole point is to keep gambling until you lose. We argued about it for a while, and I finally convinced her to come with me to a casino for the first time in her life, in the hope that I could spark my interest in her. I set her off easy at the roulette with 50/50 odds on $20, and she just happened to WIN. She then looked at me with a "well now what" face, and I realized she just doesn’t get what's fun about it. I then started thinking: even though I have a lot more fun at the casino than her, in the total balance of wins VS losses, it is very likely that she has a greater chance of keeping her profits (granted she knows the game, of course) than me, simply because she is not driven by the hopes of scoring large. I asked my friends and no one seemed to have a straightforward answer to my question "is someone who hates playing actually more likely to win that someone who loves playing?"

Of course they are not. Plus roulette does not have 50/50 odds. Sorry.

Yeah.. if you want to convince her, explain to her that good players always win in the long run, and that it's one of the few casino games you can actually win at since you play vs the players and not against the casino, other than paying a small rake fee.

Anyhow, it really depends how much you're losing. If you're just playing micro tables, and aren't losing any 'real' money, you should be able to convice her from all the horror gambling stories she hears on TV and in the newspaper.

Then you can compare it to her shoe or purse collection, that she actually spends more on average per month on crap like that, so why can't you have some fun too?

See if she likes this gambling:

Bust inside of her and let her take her chances. 50/50 right?

Roulette... I was going to try an experiment with it in an actual roulette situation. I tried vs. a RNG, and that's actually a way to beat the system.... If I can remember what it is.

Ah well, I'm sticking with poker. I just wish a couple of these tiny stacks would go all in already so I can open up a bit.

If you say double your bet every time you lose you are going to get smacked.

What? That doesn't work?!

No, what I was thinking of is something involving the fact that there are 38 numbers, so, on average, a certain number hits on the 19th time or so.

I can't recall the specifics of it, though, and that's the important part.
