1) did he care deeply for animals?......yes
2) were his tv shows created purely to show his love of animals and nothing to do with the drama of chasing a king cobra up a tree and the resulting cash flow(from the tv show, not from finding cash up the tree)?......no
3) was he damn unfortunate to die at the hands of a stingray, an extremely friendly fish, and not die at the hands of an extremely poisonous snake/crocodile etc?......hell yes
4) has he settled his ways and not gone on as many crazy blue backed, pink spotted, yellow tongued snake hunts since hes had his kids?.....i dunno
for those here with kids, its very understandable their feelings on a father putting himself in constant danger on these safari trips when his kids are at home(or in his left arm, whatever the case may be)......at the end of the day, most people here said that they were slightly saddened at his death but felt little sympathy at the way in which he died.
personally, im saddened that hes gone and especially in the way that he died.......i mean, for a guy that has chased most kinds of rare and dangerous animals around for god knows how many years, to die at the hands of an extremely docile fish has gotta be a bit strange.......also, apparently he pulled the tail from his chest before he died and according to experts in the field, he woulda gone through absolute agony in the moments before he died.
for those in the UK, the Discovery Channel on Sky Digital are gonna be running a whole weekend of his shows shortly....put the phone off the hook, pull the curtains and get the popcorn in
