He seemed a pretty decent bloke.. I only saw the programs a few times..

To poker... it was a "freak accident".. well actually no... he made the classic bankroll error... his whole roll was his stack... OK it was only a two outer on the river... but you only need to take on a two outer 20 times and the odds will get you....

Controlling risk is about living with the consequencies of the 1% chance happening.....

I used to climb to an OK standard.. during my two years in the sport I knew personally two people die and one get crippled for life. - One of them was Ginette Harrison the second British women to do Everest... The other two were "freak" accidents" i.e one had just soloed an E3 and tripped on the down climb and fell all of five feet...

The odds will get you in the end.. you must brace yourself for when they do...

The guy provoked wild animals for personal gain! occasionally he rescued an animal, but more often than not he was just fussing around with dangerous animals because it made for good TV.

There's no reason to have to explain why picking up cobras or jumping on crocodiles is dangerous. I love dogs but I don't go around with a camera crew finding strays and putting raw steak in my pants to illustrate why not to do it

I only feel bad because a man is dead and his children will have no father. I don't feel bad about the way he died

he grew up in the wildlife way of life with his parents running a zoo or some kinda animal sanctuary or something so being around all those exotic dangerous animals that we may run a mile from was second nature to him

to say that he didnt care about animals is just plain wrong......to say that he didnt exploit the great tv that chasing some poisonous snake round a desert at night created is also wrong.

all in all, to me he seemed like he deeply cared for animals and it was after all, just a few tv shows that the public ever saw him on.....we didnt see the rest of his day to day life.

his death has been making more headlines over here than i thought it would and LOTS of animal lovers and experts have spoken out in defence of his antics and also defended his genuine feelings towards animals.......im no expert either way but i will take the opinions of real experts on board.

bottom line is that he was great on tv and i felt some genuine sadness when i heard of his death and of how he died.

I've followed him from the beginning, so I know a lot about him, been to the websites and everything.

wasn't trying to imply he didn't like animals, just that his antics were over the top for a reason. If you watch his early stuff he is far more cautious and more informative with the animals he grabbed, at the end it was just like, lets get this guy involved with the most dangerous animals we can and let him provoke them.

probably a good guy, definetly did a lot to promote animal awareness, but to say his only motivation to put himself in harms way was the animals is ludicrous.

Give me a break man. Steve had it coming, and I believe that if you could ask him he would have had it no other way. He was gambling every day and this time he lost.

I said it was sad, what more do you want?
