starting deposit was 200 in like, febuary or march. i got on stars and was playing 50nl and then wondered why i went broke. reloaded 200 more, broke. reloaded 200 more, and i remember the exact number, i got down to $7.47 within 45 minutes. and i thought to meself.
"ok. if i lose 7 more dollars, i will have lost $600 playing online poker in the course of about 2 weeks. i havnt told my parents im gambling online. this sucks... how the hell does andrew(friend) do it? wtf? i MUST be doing something wrong."
and i was. i had read plenty of books, but didnt understand alot of things like BR mannagment, and how differnt online poker is than live. there is a learning curve for online poker. nobody can log on and start crushing the games. im still on the damn, curve, but doing better.
anyways, literally from that $7.47 i swear to god i built it up and i havnt had to re deposit sence. i played the lowest limit possible til i got to where i could play reasonable nl, then progressed to now where ive made somewhere in the niehborhood of like $10,000 playing online poker.(not including live)
oh and im not saying im some sort of online poker genious. (or, poker genious) im barely the legal age, and have really just recently started really reading over plays people make here and understanding why i would play it the same/differntly, and the same with other forums. ive only really started actually thinking about what im doing. when i first starting playing online, i didnt think at all when i played. i literally had to 1 table at first in order to get myself to try to think about what people could have, and what i could beat. I STILL have trouble with this. its very hard for me to focus on the computer, and sometimes even live. and im still learning the game and stuff. ive really only been trying to get better since like dec. or so, i have a long way to go.
building strategy? i dunno, obviously playing within your roll is a big one, but just find out where the fish are. for instance, partypoker sit and goes are awesome. sit and goes are pretty swingy compared to ring, however if you have a big cushion on your roll, u should be able to cruise right up and beat the 33's at least without very much effort. sngs are also better for people looking to build up because its good to play in short bursts online. like i would load up 8 sngs at a time, play til i was done with all of them, then not play an hour. also, get rakeback. it completely owns.
after i played sngs for an eternity, i realised i wasnt even that good with them. thats my next piece of advice. find your best game. it might not even be holdem.
the building strategy part was hard for me cause ive never really had a "strategy" ive just played what i felt like playing. as long as you are within your roll you should do fine.
