at the end of the movie he said he paid back the dean and ended up taking 30k to vegas... i havnt seen the movie in a few months but wouldnt that mean he actually had 40k and not 60k?
note: this may sound funny, but back when i started playing with my friends when i was like...15/16, nobody was really the clear "best player"
for some reason, right after i watched this movive, i was beating them very badly before ever reading any books or anything. it was weird. i love that movie, i always play better after watching it.

Nice thread idea.
Where are you going to school?
Where in Michigan/Windsor is the best place to sit down with under $400 and play NLHE?

central michigan
u gotta find games. windsor is pretty nice and i typically play at soaring eagle in mt. pleasant (michigan) but basically anywhere in a casino you will pay some outrageous $6 session fee, and they wont let you buy in full (IE: $200 max 2/4 at windsor, 100 max 1/2 at the eagle... WTF? why?!)
ive just recently found alot of games in lansing. somehow i met the DJ for all of the detroit tigers/lions games, hes a really cool guy and every time i see him at the casino hes like come on come play in lansing its a good time. so finally i go, and its pretty cool. they are mostly in some guys basement, but there is like a $1 rake and they actually let you buy in. plus the players are bad.
theres a game in a meijers warehouse somewhere in lansing, but i heard its shady as fuck and everyone has guns and drugs. i never went.
there are lots of college campus games too. western michigan has some pretty crazy 2/5 nl, and i know if you know people there are good games around michigan state.
APPARENTLY the soaring eagle is expanding their poker room and getting bigger buyin games, but thats probably another rumor. i just wish they would let me buy in 200, christ.
the key is meeting somone who says "oh, you play poker?"
otherwise its pretty tough to find a good local game that isnt large rake/lame capped buy in.

This is TA"s thread and he was a bit unclear, so I'll stick my nose in here. They were playing heads up for cash. This wasn't a freezeout. KGB and Mike could reload at any time. Of course, Mike was broke outside of what was on the table, so KGB was the only one reloading.

basically, ask anything, and i will give you an answer that isnt super weak.

This is pretty cool, good man
Ok question, aside from reading books and playing and reading strategy posts what else helped you develop as a poker player, any tips? anything that helped you greatly?

Why O why is everyone so pessamistic about the future of poker, yes there is a influx of people and poker is getting more glam but poker is a game loved by millions. There will be a turnover of players but i can't see it dieing.
Now YES it may get slightly less juicy but i don't believe it will ever even die down alot...things go in cycles no one knows what the future of poker is like.
