DVD Review: The Village
The is the 4th film from the guy that did The 6th Sense, Unbreakable, and Signs.
The basic premise - a group of settlers set off to leave behind the violence of "the towns" and raise their families in innocence. The woods surrounding the village are inhabitted by "those we do not speak of" that occasionally skin livestock, and keep the good people within the village clearing.
I love triange leads to violence and the innonce of the town is shattered, the fiance of the injured man decides she must brave the woods to secure medicine to save he love.
The movie is long, slow, and uninteresting for most of it's running time. The movie has the awkwardness of M. Night Shyamalan's Signs and is no where near as engaging as The 6th Sense.
I have a hard time rating this movie, but I think I have to decide on:
T2o, despite the legend behind it, I cannot reccomend playing it.
Bonus Review!
Collateral - Tom Cruise and Jamie Fox. If you have seen the commercials for this movie, you know the plot - hired killer hires a cabby to do his work for the night. Nothing suprising, just a solid well done movie by Michael Mann of Man Hunter and Miami Vice fame.
Rating: Pocket Qs, there maybe better out there, but you still gotta play it.
