I took this about a year ago, and I was almost on the origin. I was a touch to the economic right, and a touch authoritarian. However, if I took it now, I would probably be more libertarian. I actually agree with what you are saying now. I just misunderstood you the first time. Sorry.

BTW, watching Gladiator.

Like the 10s or thousands that died in government care during the heat wave in France last year, or all those that die while waiting for medical care?
YES!!!! most of those people were elderly, and they died from a like oxygen because there were also tremendous forest fires in the area during the heat wave, couple that with the fact they don't have air conditioning and you get quite a few deaths. Same thing happened in portugal to, hmmm.. I wonder why we didn't hear about that in the US? oh yeah our government doesn't dislike Portugal.

I lived in Europe for quite some time and let me tell you it's nice when you don't feel well to just be able to go to a hospital or doctor without having to call a nurse to make sure A) the doctor is covered in your HMO and B) you are actually sick enough to warrant an emergency room visit.

A friend of mine was hospitilized in switzerland for 2 nights with surgery, total bill (which his insurance covered) $427!!!! in the US that bill would be close to $10,000, why? state sponsered insurance. we have so many people stiffing hospitals that they have to charge exhorbitant amounts for the few that do pay. total catch 22, you pay more because people don't pay.

And people are smart enough to take care of themselves, but government should butt out of their private lives? That makes no sense.

private life and state sponsered programs do not have to clash.

sure it makes sense, would you give a 21 year old kid $50 a week to invest for his future privately??? Of course not 90% of them will just spend it on beer or whatever. Then when they are of retirement age they will be homeless or living off of some sort of welfare program. At the same time I don't think the government should tell you where or when to drink. or if they should get an abortion, gamble, smoke pot, and the list goes on and on.

The United States is the only industialized country in the world without a unified health care system.

What is this talking about?

And the people should pay for health care for everyone, but we have no right to ask them to avoid activities that increase health problems?

You want to do your own thing, don't ask me to pay for it.

the reason you pay for it is because most people don't pay! if there was state sponsered insurance EVERYONE would pay, thus reducing the cost of medical care. the reason medical care is si high is because many people do not have insurance and can't pay their bills so the cost for others also goes up. Beavis you are already paying for these people, might as well give them insurance.

Steve-o: I think saying most people might be rather unfair. Let's take your example again... give a kid $50 but tell them it's the ONLY finance they'll ever receive in their entire life for the future, they'll never get anything else again, do you still think most of them are going to go out and waste it on beer? It's in a person's own interest to take care of themselves and a lot more people than you think have at least some vague idea of a "plan" for life, even if it is just get a crappy job, have kids who probably won't like me, retire, die

Alright anither Gandhi like me.

Actually I think a majority would still spend it until the attained a certain age. Regardless though if even 5% wasted it there would be major problems! not to mention the ones who invest it unwisely.
