Default Craps/Math wiz needed

Alright I took my step dad's friend who flied over from utah for almost 6k in a 9 hour heads up 5/10 Nl game. After he quit he said he would play me in crap's as me as house. I passed obviously because I have no clue how to play and no intention of ever learning. He got pissed off claiming he was unlucky ( his money went in with worst of it everytime) I just agree. He go's on saying he would beat me betting on 6 and 8 playing craps. He says betting on both and 6 and 8 makes the roller a favorite.

Now I find it hard to believe the house would leave a game open to where they are the loser in the longrun. So can someone with give me the odds of betting on 6/8 for the house and player.

In the long run, the 7 (house number) is a 6 to 5 favorite over either the 6 or the 8. Casinos offer 7 to 6 payout on the 6 or the 8 bet which gives the house a small advantage. The advantage is easily overcome in the short run, though.

It's a fault of many gamblers. Since the 6 and 8 are together 10-6 favorite over the 7, they think this is true. They conveniently forget that they lose double when the 7 hits making them a 12-10 dog.

As far as I know the only way to have even close to even odds is to back your bet up on the pass line by playing the odds. Anyone who plays craps knows what I mean.

I have no idea how to play craps but I remember reading that there is an even money bet.

who cares if its +EV? that only matters over the course of billions of games. you will be playing such few, that the varience may result in you losing, even if you are +EV.

you'd need like a 10:7 edge imo to take him up on his shady prop.

nicely done btw on the hU
