Pokerpages IS a great site, BUT the forum is horrible!

Why would you not allow someone to say I really like fulltilt.com but you do allow FULL T I L T is rigged?

this is because of a lazy moderator, nothing more, nothing less. Doesn't want to have to read all the posts, so he just kills certain words. Thats why it's polluted with off topic, nonsensical, non-poker posts (remind you of RGP anyone?) noone reads the posts to stop spam or other verbally abusive posts that contribute nothing.

The degradation of that site over the last 2 years has been really amazing and saddens me because I quite honestly owe my current love for poker to Mark and Tina and the work they put into building that site up. I might still play the game, but Mark really opened my eyes to the potential the game offered and the "free" advice I got just through e-mails and at-the-table conversation while playtesting the software was immeasurable.

That said, ever since they made the move to get Bugsy's Club off the ground, the dropoff in quality for the forum has been marked. There's still plenty of good articles to be found on-site, but at the same time, I think the number of posters offering quality material/observations has also dropped off. Then again, maybe I've been around long enough that I'm just overly critical of what I look for in an "advanced poker discussion" these days.

Anyone who hasn't seen them yet, there's a series of 8 or 9 poker quizzes from several years ago still posted that I highly recommend. You'll have to link hop to find them, but I think they're great practice. I still go back to them from time to time...although now I've viewed them enough times I think I have most of the questions ingrained on my brain.

Sad to see a good site flare out under the weight of its own popularity though.

Not that I'm lazy or anything, but is someone finds those before I look for them, I'd appreciate a link.

PP is what got me started playing poker on a more competive level. Honestly, I would have no competence in MTT's at all without having read a lot of the discussions there.

I still lurk occasionally, and drop the occasional line on something nobody else seems to be smart enough to handle over there. Of course, thats usually if they should raise preflop with AA or some other asinine concept.

And hell, theres nothing wrong with quoting books. Hey, they should try hooked-on-Phonics if theyre jealous.
