Default Computer Illiterate, Need Help!

OK, this Friday, the camp I'm working at has a talent show, and the counselors are required to perform. One of the kids and I will be performing our rendition of "Bye, Bye, Bye" by Nsync. (Basically, I wanted to do something really goofy that the kids will find amusing and entertaining, rather than some lame talent.)

My problem arises due to the fact that I only need about half of the song since I doubt I could last handle the full four minutes. Is there any way I can burn half of the song, or do I need to truncate the file first? If so, how would I go about doing that? Basically, I have no idea what I'm doing and any help would be greatly appreciated.

there is software that will record what ever is playing on your system, you could just switch it off when you want to.

I have some free stuff that can with my Creative Labs card. Do a google search.

yeah if you have sb live! on your pc, just go into the folder and find program called wavestudio. drag the mp3 into it, highlight whatever you want to delete and delete it. then click; export as; mp3.

if you dont have thta, but have an internet connection, download audacity. its free audacity.sourceforge.net/

just edit the file in there.

if you dont have net, go >>start>programs>acessory>entertainment>>soundrecorder.

that is the most getto program i have ever layed eyes on. if you can open mp3s with it, go ahead and load your song in. im not sure if you can edit it though. prolly you can.

once you have your sound clip, you can burn it on a cd. choose burn audio.

the soundrecorder should allow you to record the MP3 while you are playing it in another program.

Thats kind of the hard way to do it. Editing the MP3 like gder has said would be the easiest way, IMO.
