Bowling satellite. YAY!!!

Regardless of how I finished in this $50+$10 satellite bowling tournament on Thursday night that would give entries to this Saturday's $500 tourney, I was playing this Saturday. On Wednesday night, 175 people (the max.) entered the satellite.

This was not an elimination tournament. This was purely a three-game handicap sweep. Top 10 series received entries. The handicap was 90% of 220-avg. My average (on the books) is 207, so I had 12 pins. This was the payout:

1st: $1875+ entry
2nd: $950+ entry
3rd: $500+ entry
4th: $300+ entry
5th: $125+ entry
6th-10th: entry

This was a helluva payout for a satellite.

1st game: 257+12=269
2nd game: 241+12=253

At this point, I'm in 4th going into Game 3 and then, 1st frame- SLAM. 2nd- SLAM. 3rd- SLAM. 4th to the 5th to the 6th to the 7th into the 8th into the 9th- SLAM!!! I've struck the front 9 for only the second time in my life and the first, I finished with a 287 (my high). Now, again, I have a 240 going into the 10th and I square up.

People were watching, but trying not to talk. People don't say, "300" when someone's on a run. You just don't do it. I'm at 270, needing an 8 and a spare, 9-anything, or a strike to break my high. I square up for the second roll...

I'm at 290. I'm one strike away and... no slam. I hit the 3/6 pocket for a 7, leaving the 1-2-4 wash and finished with a 297 scratch. Handicap game of 309.

I shot my best scratch series ever (795), shot my best handicap series with an 831 and I finished 2nd. The guy in first shot an 842 series because of his 18 pin handicap. His scratch series was 788. His second game was a 300.

We'll meet on Saturday. That damn sandbagger. Yeah, I'm a bagger, too, but 18 pins. Jesus!!! This is the biggest take that I've had in a bowling tournament without sealing the deal when you add the $500 to the $950 prize. Wish me luck this Saturday guys. I'm going out to Harrah's tonight for a few hours and then staying at a motel in the burbs by the bowling alley. The tourney's at 1:30 PM. My two coaches are in the tourney as well. It's gonna be a helluva ride.
