Default More on bluff

I suppose one final point should be made..

A lot of new players think:

bluffing = big bets to scare.

If you hit quads on the flop and you check to the river (praying that someone trips or hits a flush).. you're actually bluffing.. ok you might call it slow play.. but you are trying to mislead your opponents through your betting .. or lack of it.

This is one of the best posts that I've seen regarding bluffs, Deme.

When I bet with nothing, it's because I know that I can win the pot. When I check with the nuts, I'm gambling with the possibility of not maximizing. Slowplaying is a bigger gamble and a bigger form of deception that betting with a weak hand.

In NL I usually make a small bet on the flop when I flop I strong hand (quads, full house, ace high flush) It lets me know who has a hand and how much they will pay off on the river when i check the turn.
