It seems that every time a newer member asks a question that's been discussed before, we tell them to use the search feature to find past threads on the subject. While with some topics, this will probably answer their question without taking up space on the server. With some, However, I've noticed that it might not be a bad idea to revisit the topic and open a new discussioin instead of just telling them to search.
Example: If a newb asks what kind of BR he needs to play a certain limit, the search feature will probably answer all his questions (and then some). This topic has been discussed quite a bit and it's not likely that there is anything new to discuss about it. It seem to be a fairly str8 foward math question...How much do I need to handle natural varience and still keep going...
However, If somebody asks how to beat tilt, this may be something that somebody has found a new way of handling. Instead of making snide comments about searching first...it might not be a bad idea to wait to see if anybody posts anything new...Or, just keep quiet and let the people who want to discuss it, discuss it.
I make this comment because it seems that some of the more long term members always seem to make snide comments about searching before asking. A polite comment about this would probably be acceptable, but a snide one is just being mean. If you're tired of newer members asking the same questions, just avoid the thread. Granted, if it becomes a problem, then a polite comment pointing out the search feature may be warrented.
I think all long-time members need to keep in mind that one of the things this forum is going to do is grow. People are going to find it in their own way and because some of them are going to be new to poker, the questions are bound to repeat. I think it serves the good of the forum if we treat these newer members with respect instead of making snide comments on their posts...I think this should be especially true for forum representatives...Mods and admin and such.

This has been discussed before.... use the search function.
When a topic has been discussed multiple times, there is no need to do it again. If he has further questions he can post them in THAT thread so we all have any relevant information at hand.“There's no sense in being precise when you don't even know what you're talking about.” - John von Neumann

Maybe we want some direct answers from others to us instead of reading another older thread. Did you ever think of that?? Maybe you dont like it. Thats fine. I agree with Trons, DONT READ OR POST IN THAT THREAD. Instead some people feel the need to post a comment and be a dick about the whole issue. Seriously, how often do the same questions come up that it is SUCH an inconvenience to answer a question. I am new to the forum deal. I really like this poker forum, but it bothers me when I feel shut down and almost belittled because I dont know some of the finer points of how to post, search, respond, etc.
