PForum Suggestion
Hey Y'all,
I think it'd be super cool if PF had a daily poker tip, or a poker tactic.
For some of you that don't know, I am a huge chessplayer (tied for second place this year in the BC Championships), and really like doing chess puzzles.
If readers of PF could post game situations, that force us to answer tough questions, I think that would be really fun. Not insane ones, just logical ones that we all need to work on on occasion.
What do you think? Is this doable? Even if the example was taken from a Hold em book, that'd be good.
Cheers,
Mike

Hey Mike... welcome
Poker doesn't really have any puzzles or analysis.. since people bluff, etc, you can't really calculate anything out per say...
What would be better is to give you a hand and a flop, or turn, etc. and have the person guess what the % is that they'd hit one of their outs... something like that.
BTW, it's too bad you didn't leave closer to me.. I really want to sit down (literally) with somebody and calculate and memorize certain calculations, etc..

Poker calculations are really quite simple. It's the most basic statistics type stuff you can do, and there is no need to "guess" the odds. It might be worth your while to take a simple stat class or find a website on it, I'm sure there's plenty out there.

I think we should just teach everyone how to figure out the odds and be done with it:
quick puzzle in my all vs Rekrul on the flop, who had odds to win?
Me: AcQc
Him: AdKs
Flop: 4c 4s 9c
Another one, who has odds to win, the made straight hand or the draw?
Player 1: 9sTs
Player 2: 5d6d
Flop: 4c7s8s

You said Iraqi's.. you didn't say terrorists.
It's just as bad as when people say they got "jewed".
