    Default more sections

ive noticed a few times recently that when i log on i have more posts too read than i used to, its getting hard to read all the new posts if i only log on once a day or so.

in the reputation thread alex stated he expects this to continue due to WSOP
maybe it would help to have more sections so people can find topics which interest them easier.

e.g. maybe seperate sections for holdem, omaha etc, limit, NL, bonus's, tourny strategy etc,

    anyone agree?

I'd agree with a "Poker Strategy" umbrella forum with sub-forums like:

Poker Theory (for the existing Poker Strategy threads)
    Limit HE
    NLHE
    SnG's
    MTT's
Omaha, Stud, and other Poker Games

and keep Glory Clorner and River Rats under the General umbrella. They should be marked for a short time when they were established, so they're still looked at. I'll do what I did when Red opened the Sports & Games Forum recently and move active and recent threads (maybe a months worth) into the correct forums. I have finals this week, so it's not like I have anything better to do0 during the day. I'm gonna be a bum for a week or two watching FOXNews, CNN, and ESPN all day drinking water to cure hangovers and eating leftover pizzas and Thai food while chain smoking.

I would also like to see an "ignore this thread" feature.

    What about a SPAM forum.

They're going to spam here anyway, at least give them a place to do it in so we can ignore it.

lol...but they always try to pretend the spam isn't spam, so i bet they'd stay out.

i would like different sections under strategy for the different games though...since i mostly only play hold'em, the rest is way over my head so i tend to skip it. this would speed things up. there've been crazy amounts of posts lately to dig through...luckily it's summer and i'm bored .

I liek steves Idea... even though its starting to go 2+2ish... but thats what happens with size.

Leave tournies (MTT's and SNG's) as one forum though.

A mathematics/probability forum would be a great idea I believe.

One of the major pitfalls a lot of forums try to do, is make too many forums/sections. What tends to happen is certains areas start to become dead weight with a lot of inactivity turning them into ghost towns. People then flock to the more popular and active areas, which then turns the board into areas with heavy posting traffic, and areas with virtually no forum traffic.

However, if you go to the forum main page and look at the number of threads and posts per each forum area, you will notice that one area stands out from the rest: The General Poker Discussion one. It had twice as many threads/posts than it's nearest competitor.

Therefore, I may be open to creating a new section (note: ONE new section) to help alleviate and redistribute some of the pressure in that area. I'm thinking perhaps something such as "Online Site Discussion" which would be to discuss about particular playing sites.. something of that nature.

As a devotee of many forums over the years, I agree that fewer well travelled fora (which may or may not be a word) are better than many sparsely used ones.

I have a forum with over 5ooo members, i totally agree with kid here.

I do have a forum called the wall of shame where I move posts that are just plain funny and stooooopid. The forum is read only other than mods.

Something to think about I nominate the "online poker is rigged" post as the 1st addition!
