I had a long boring meeting today. Browsing the site on a Black Berry is a pain in the ass, but if RSS feeds were enabled (preferably inclding a reply link) things would have been smoother.
Would anyone use RSS feeds if they were available?

RSS, Real Simple Syndication, is an tool sites use to display links to various (usually new) items on a web site. For a forum, it would be links to the most recent posts or if you want to get specific, the recent posts in a specific forum.
It is implimented by creating a simple XML file that contains the title (linked to the actual article/post on the website) and perhaps the first 20 - 50 words of the post.
For example, the recent top stories at CNN you could use the link CNN.com
Edit: IE7 & FireFox are good RSS readers, or you can install RSS Reaer software such as Feed Demon. It makes it easy to get the latest stories/articles/blog posts/whatever without having to navigate the site. It does not take traffic away from the site since people need to click to read the whole article. Many bloggers measure the success of their blog by how many people use their RSS feeds.Last edited by Pinguaq; 10-27-2008 at 06:32 PM.

Just think of it as a file that contains links to the most recent content on a website. Kinda like the "Today's Posts" page with just the links to the posts and nothing else.

I don't believe there is built-in support for enabling RSS in vBulletin yet unfortunately...

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> External Data Provider -> Enable RSS Syndication -> Yes
We then use the URL /external.php?type=RSS or even /external.php?type=RSS&forumids=x"People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. I still don't know what they are, lol.
For Free Money, Rakeback and some 6x Ongame bonuses, I recommend PokerSource.
I recommend Cardrunners for superb poker coaching. It was honestly the single biggest improvement in my game signing up there! Sign-up fee might seem steep, but it pays itself back within weeks.

Try adding http://www.pokerforums.org/external.php?type=RSS to your RSS reader, see if it works.
