i havent read all of this thread. but i think its shitty that our low content threads are 15x larger than our strategy ones. it's fun to dick around which is why this forums great because its so laid back, but i'd like to see some newer names in the strategy sections also.
just my 6 cents.

Agreed.
The hand analysis forum especially has been soooooo quiet recently.

I don't know about others on this but while I love PFO, it isn't exactly the first place I look for strategy. I find PFO my community, my internet home; while 2+2 and Cardrunners in the past as my true strategic bases.
Because I love you all but let's face it...aside from a few, we're a bunch of low-limit grinders giving advice to other low-limit grinders.

I've never really got into 2+2. I'll lurk and all that but I've never wanted to post any of my hands, those guys can be so evil!

Even so...if you post a $11 hand...you'll get responses from $22 players, $33 players, $55 players and higher.
Here, while the advice is usually ok and good...you post an $11 hand and you get a response from $5.50 and $11 players...generally.

actually, almost every time I look at one of those hand anylsis threads it's so clear cut I don't respond. And the few that are interesting never get responses.
One other thing: you guys come to a clear consensus way too quick, that thread recently about hat to do in the all-in situation at the end of SnG where you are the clear chip leader is a good example. The first 5 people say auto-push so everyone else agrees, I took a different view and noone even seemed to notice, not one comment about it.

Yeah this forum is pretty dead now for any serious poker discussion.
It's kind of what Kid wanted though I assume.

I don't think the knowledge has decreased, just the different theories on the game. It seems like everyone here has read the same book for lack of a better term.
This forum never had a bunch of strong players. It is more for new and low limit players to talk about the game and get some advice from a few better players, without being belittled/berated as they are on other forums.
I browse other forums from time to time; there's nothing groundbreaking being discussed. This is a good poker forum, you learn what you need to learn.
I mean really, at some point you just get it and aside from a few extreme hands you rarely need advice on what you should have done. people consistently beating big buy-in games are not looking for advice on forums; they're looking to gloat, whine, or whatever. When I was playing hardcore I had a small group of people I talked to about hands and I wouldn't want anyone I played with to be able to eavesdrop on these discussions.
Before he blew up I used to talk to Negraneau a lot through e-mails and I had maybe a handful of other players I respected enough, or were willing to share info, to talk to. All the talks I had with these people are things I rarely see hinted at in forums: PFO, 4, anywhere.
**********EDIT**************
Alex and I have had some public discussions on here about some advanced stuff that I am talking about above and we were generally laughed at by people who didn't get it. Talk about anything that isn't a book and people start pulling pokerstove calculations out their ass and regurgitating something they read in a book trying to debunk it.
If you want to see real hardcore pokertalk go through the old RGP archives, thats real poker discussion, not what you see on todays forums. you had Sklansky, Caro, Jalib and every big name player from Negraneau to Lederer to Doyle posting, arguing theory, and airing dirty laundry back in the day.
