i got a poker friend thats from canada and he was just recently up there for the first time in years and he said that because everything is in french..that they dont have jacks,queens,kings, and aces because that is not in the french language and instead they use like o and u weird stuff. the numbers are the same its just the face cards. Also he said that in some parts the game texas hold'em is illegal but they legalizing it because the government owns the casinos so therefore it benefits them. But with those face cards changing...they are having these big tourneys up there..do they play by their deck of cards??? can somebody update me on this

yeah, also hold em is played for the best 6 card hand in Canada. Just don't go to Quebec.... no one knows what goes on in Quebec and no one wants to.

Also, we can't get straights. Because we are all homosexual. We get kicked out of Canada if we showdown with a straight. Even if by accident. Then we have to go the US and be worried that we can't play online poker anymore .

Lets put order into this...

Yes its true that some card decks shows a V (Valet) for J, D (Dame) for a Q and R (Roi) for Kings, but forget about it, its like less than 1% of the decks... and even us. french poeple, are confuse by those decks!

For Texas Holdem... We dont have it in our casinos... but its not illigagal to play it. Not even to play it for $$$. What's illegal is to take a rake when you host a game at your place or in a commercial place.

That said it almost means it's illegal, I aggree! But dont worry for us, I never saw a card room closed by the police... Itatlians or Bikers yes, but never by the cops!!!

And, yes it seems Quebec is thinking about having holdem in their casinos by the end of 2007!
