alex, i hear what you are saying, but this started when Irexes was banned, not Beavis. Beavis calling steve out was probably not the right thing to do, but mods can not provoke members into saying things and then get pissed when they do.

for mods to have the respect they need to police the forums and be listened to, they have to set an example that doesn't breed hostility from members.

if you mosey on over to Irexes blog you will see he says he "deserved" the ban. And in another part of his blog, goes on to say how it was basically a premeditated act by him.

So I don't understand how you can argue against his 1 day banning.

Irexes doesn't like me for whatever reason, and was upset with how the site is run. So he dynamited himself. I'm paraphrasing but this is how he describes it himself.

I understand that you're just finding out what happened and voicing as you go along. Irexes was banned for 1 day. Just 24 hours for what would be at least 7 days on any other forum from their most respected member for what he said.

Beavis was banned for 7 days. 1 week. That's it. 1 measly week. That's at least 3 weeks shorter than the most respected member of any forum would receive for starting the thread he started.

The first action was Rex's and he admits that this wasn't impulsively provoked by Steve, but had boiled over from past private matters and the penalties were issued by us very lightly because of our familiar pasts.

There was no win here for us. We do nothing and a person recently temp-banned screams favoritism. We perform a common action and we're disregarding those individual's reputation. We issue the lightest of light penalties and it's blown up into misconceptions of duct tape over the mouths and exile to foreign islands.

what does a 1 day ban achive that a private warning dosn't??

I remember, half a year ago, I was out of line. Marm sent me a PM telling me he will ban me If if dont do seomthing. So i shape up, and no hard feelings. However, if marm would just banned me w/o warning for seomthing that I didn't know (but was) out of line, I could have gotten pissed and who knows what would have happened.

Just my thaughts. I dont know anyone on here well enough to be able to coment, nor do i know what you guys pm about.

the 1 day ban wasnt the reason rex left, btw.

We know that the ban wasn't "why he left." The ban was the act necessary to start all of this- when nothing has changed in the way that this forum is run regarding this issue since 2004.

The 1 day ban is just a cool down where there's no other choice but to handle it privately or another board. Rex knows the way a forum is maintained and if we're gonna bring in how much people are liked, that has to be brought into the equation as well.

i can think of at least between 2-4 people that havent forgotten.

i havent forgotten.......this wasnt said in an aggressive manner but rather in a, well, informative manner since it seemed that perhaps you were feeling left out with everyone forgetting you.(notice the in the original post)

you may have noticed that i said before that i have PMd all those to whom i had something to say on this issue and with whom i had a "problem"(for want of a better word) with over their handling of it

to those who havent yet received one, you're off the hook......this time

I PM'd you back and trust me, I don't validate my existence through an anonmous internet forum. I just find it unfair that 1 person gets flamed for 2 moderators and an administrator enforcing a policy that exists throughout the web and the 3 acted in consistency with that norm, if not more lenient.

Even if Steve-O is 100% right, quality counts more than being personally offended, imo. This is all anonymous internet, so everybody should be able to get over it. Not just Steve-O, I mean everybody involved.

I was not involved in any of this and frankly could care less about personal feelings however i have to dispute this post with two words:

Terrell Owens

Quality never compensates for disrespecting team members and injuring an organization.

(Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with the recent problem, just my opinion of this one post. I have no side or care in the recent disputes.)
