Change the way Posts are 'read'

Its really really annoying if there is 2 days worth of posts I havent read and just because I have been logged onto PFO for an hour, the server feels that I should have had enough time to read everything, so everything gets marked as read.

can you please cahnge it so that threads are ONLY marked as read if you have read them or have marked them read.

that would be terrible, you would gets pages and pages of posts that you didnt care about and never want to read.

It has something to do with the tracking cookie as well. I remember kid mentioning that if you stay in 1 particular thread for x amount of time all the other unread threads become read.

second part is true but the first part isnt....just avoid them as u normally would

must agree with Marm on this one, it is annoying that if i happen to check in tomorrow morning for half an hour, that come tomorrow evening after work when i log in again, im assumed to have read every post that u eager little beavers make during the night

Its very easy beav... there is a "mark All read" button. Your threads see me use that alot

Or at the least... extend the timer to like 12 or 24 hours....

You can't do that for threads, you can only do it for entire forums, and it doesn't always work either.

What Marm is asking for should not be too difficult. Most other forums I am a member of (non-poker of course) all show a thread unread until you actually read it. I miss so many threads because I was online but didnt get to it, and when i come back it doesn't show up as unread.

I have ten days of threads to read!

I would seriously love to see this fixed.

It's worse because I have to read every thread. (No, like I keep telling people, I'm not OCD, I'm just anal!)

What I do is make a note of the last-logged-in time under the "Welcome, Yvraine" message (which is 03-10-06 at 5:21 am this time around) and if threads get marked read, I can go to the earliest one timestamped after that and catch up from there.
