another thing is once you learn how to play them, there arent that many tough choices. its either push or fold most of the time. in the regular s/gs you have to actually make decisions

The rake is not better, its just different. There are 9 players at a regual SnG and 10 at a Turbo on stars.
$5.50 $50 prize pool $5.00 fee 9 players
$6.50T $60 prize pool $5.00 fee 10 players
$3.40T $30 prize pool $4.00 fee 10 players
I haven't played a $15 yet so I can't comment. I dont know how mathematically you compare 10 players v. 9, but there probably is an equity difference there based on the fee vs. winning odds.
