Default AKs and QQ... On the bubble.

I was playing in the $15+1.50, $10,000 GTD on Pacific the on Saturday. Top 70 cash and I had around 8,500 in chips, avg. was around 9,000. 74 left and I pick up AKs UTG. Blinds are 300/600. I raise to 2,000, and then a player in MP raises all in for 9,000. I folded. What do you do?

71 left. Blinds still 300/600 QQ on the button. UTG raised 2,400. I smooth call on the button because there is only one player to be knocked out before being ITM. Flop is K K 10. UTG moved all in, putting me all in. I waited to see if a player gets knocked out before my time ran out. No one did and I timed out and folded. What do you do?

Are these the right plays on the bubble? I realize by playing this way, I was not playing to win, which is not my style. But on the bubble do you make these folds?
