If you make a call with an expected value of +$1 in the same situation five times, you might end up on average losing $3 per hand (short run bad luck). If you make the same call a thousand times, you could end up on average winning $2 per hand.. theoretically, if you make the call an infinite number of times, your average winning per hand is $1 exactly.
