In Limit poker.

Something I have noticed upper level players do and later realized I have done this too but probably for different reasons I can't remember. Say you and 2-3 other people see a flop and your not on the button and you completely miss the flop or at best hit bottom pair. If at anytime it's checked to you you bet it regardless. Sometimes on the button you just check it instead since people realize you could be bluffing and will play back at you. Odds are they missed the flop too or didn't hit it for many outs and will fold right then. For all the times you will take the pot down right then and there vs. people calling or playing back at you seems to be worth it. What do you guys think?
