The main thing to remember in this game is you want all four cards in your hand to be coordinated with no danglers such as K-Q-J-10 and so on.A hand with just one dangler like K-Q-J-3 drops its value tremendously in omaha.
The other thing to look at is you always want to either have the nuts on the flop or be drawing to the nuts after the flop.If your draw is not to the nuts it can cost you a ton of money drawing to second best flush or second best str8.Even if you get there chances are someone is drawing to the nuts and your drawing dead.
And of course make sure your pot odds are correct before putting a dime into the pot on any draw hand.Trips look awful good in this game but if a flush or str8 is already on board they are not as good as they look if your not getting the right price to put your money in.
And dont be one of these people who gets ACES or KINGS and start getting everything in preflop it works at times but there are always a couple that come at you and if you dont flop a set many times the aces are useless after the flop.Remember its not holdem its a four card game.Just my opinion but i dont want to risk my whole stack on aces as many players will and then get there stack blown up by someone who flops two pair and comes out on the flop with a huge bet.Now what.A standard 3-4-5 times raise will usually clear out the garbage and you can still get away from ACES or Kings if you dont like the flop.
Anyway i could go on for hours on this game as we used to play it in house games with 5 cards dealt preflop.A great game if you stick to strong starting hands and strong draws. It is tempting to play more hands as four cards gives many people a reason to chase.Avoid this at all costs.
Just my two cents and GL AT THE TABLES
